A Choral Gathering in Sitges, Barcelona
Friday October 23rd – Sunday October 25th 2026
We are thrilled to be sharing the first of our news about future Creative Connexions Ireland projects.
As you know the path forward for Creative Connexions Ireland will not be producing a festival as in previous years, but instead developing the different strands, which made the Sitges festival so special, as their own distinct projects, allowing each to grow with its own identity and focus.
The first of these events is Choral Connexions Sitges, a dedicated choral gathering taking place in Sitges.
Choral Connexions Sitges is an inclusive coming together of voices around shared repertoire culminating with a finale hour-long performance. CÓR Nua, under the direction of Duncan Brickenden, brings together the voices of more than 100 singers from across Europe and beyond.
Creative Connexions Ireland has invited COR Nua participants (’24) and a number of guest choirs to travel to Sitges and take part in rehearsals, workshops and masterclasses with internationally renowned guest tutors, as well as short performances across the weekend, culminating in a Finale Gala Concert on Sunday afternoon, October 25th.
The artistic director is Duncan Brickenden, who will lead a selection of rehearsals and conduct the Gala Concert.
The name CÓR Nua translates from Irish as “New Choir” or “New Heart,” reflecting both renewal and collective voice.
We will be adding Choral Connexions Sitges guest artists details over the coming weeks, as well as including details for the public about where and when to drop along and enjoy both formal and informal gatherings of Choral Connexions around Sitges.
We welcome our participants to the inaugural weekend.
We look forward to sharing the experience with Sitges.
