Donal O'Connor - The only performer who has performed at every Sitges Irish festival! Sitges 2013 - 2023

Always a favourite with the Creative Connexions audience, Donal O'Connor has been writing songs for over 30 years and has three entirely self-composed albums to his name. His writing has been described by Christy Moore as "a pure joy". Charlie McGettigan regards him as "one of my favourite songwriters". He has toured extensively in the UK and has also performed in Germany, USA, Spain, Australia and New Zealand.

 

We are delighted to have Donal return for the 10 year celebration!

 

Dotts O'Connor - Best known as the guitarist of the RTÉ Choice nominated band Come On Live Long and Dirty Dreamer, Dotts O'Connor's new solo project is a departure from his previous work. Having spent the past decade performing and collaborating with bandmates, it was moving from Dublin to Cavan (via London) that provided him with the freedom to work on his own material. Dotts found himself quietly working alone in a spare room, playfully following his intuition. This allowed him to be guided by small thoughts and daily observations which shaped his approach to songwriting, a change from working alongside the collective of a band.

 

He recently released his debut solo EP, 'Coney', a culmination of this solitary time spent working on his craft. Throughout the writing process, he had only one rule; 'Does the song stand on its own with vocals and guitar?' Let the Sitges audience answer this question!
