Louise O’Sullivan is an accomplished Irish dancer, choreographer and teacher, recognised for her distinguished career with Riverdance and her dedication to Irish dance performance.
After many years of competitive Irish dancing, Louise began her professional career in 2010. She fulfilled her dream of joining Riverdance, progressing from troupe performer to Dance Captain and ultimately Principal Lead Performer over a remarkable 17-year career with the company. An inspiring and creative collaborator Louise continues to bring her extensive performance experience, leadership and passion for Irish dance to exciting new artistic projects.
Juan Carlos Avecilla is a Spanish director, choreographer and flamenco dancer, trained in Spanish Dance at the Maribel Gallardo Conservatory of Cádiz, Andalucia and holding a degree in Spanish Dance and Flamenco Choreography from the María de Ávil Superior Conservatory of Dance in Madrid.
He has performed with leading flamenco companies including Antonio Márquez, Javier La Torre, Ángel Rojas and María Pagés, appearing at major international festivals such as the Festival de Jerez, Flamenco Biennial of Seville, and Arte Flamenco Mont-de-Marsan.
An award-winning choreographer and performer, his works have received multiple Max Award nominations. He currently performs regularly at renowned flamenco tablaos including Corral de la Morería, Teatro Flamenco Madrid and Tablao Cordobés in Barcelona.
The dancers are joined by musicians from Ireland and Spain, including members of The Rubik’s Ensemble - combining multiple instruments and musical personalities in a vibrant showcase of contemporary Irish traditional performance highlighting both the depth of the tradition and its evolution through collaboration.
Through percussive footwork, live traditional music and emotional storytelling, ReelFlamenco creates a distinctive choreographic and musical dialogue between Irish and Spanish traditions, celebrating the power of performance to connect cultures and open new creative possibilities.
ReelFlamenco is an initiative of South Dublin County Council Arts and Libraries in association with Artscope and Creative Connexions Ireland. It is funded as part of the Culture Programme for Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2026.
